Beginner Marketers often ask the question, what is a marketing sales funnel and do I need one?
First off, the term Marketing The Funnel is more of a concept than it is a physical thing.
When people think of a funnel, it is a cone shaped object that helps pour liquid into a bottle. there are essentially two holes in a funnel. The top of the funnel where you pour the water, and the bottom of the funnel where the water comes out.
I believe the reason that a lot of people are confused with a marketing funnel, is that the funnel is actually more of a sieve that has multiple leaks, rather than a physical funnel. They used to use the term sales pipeline.
The top of the sales marketing funnel, is where the leads enter the marketing strategy. The Internet is very busy and full of distractions, this is why it is so hard for marketers to move people along the sales process. Too many distractions.
A savvy Marketer will create a unique brand or mascot around their product or service, so that their products and services are recognized immediately.
Let’s use Apple as an example.
When you see that recognizable image of an apple with a bite out of it, you know exactly who you are dealing with.
Most Marketers, including myself tend to just throw stuff out online, and hope that people find it. I do try to use my brand of MagicBrad, and also the word Synergy to get people to be familiar and aware of what they are looking at.
So to simplify the description of what a sales funnel is, it is like a pipeline, where you start with cold leads, that have no clue of what you are about, and you warm them up so the sale is easier as you get closer to the end of the pipe line or the bottom of the funnel.
The Internet is a busy and complicated confusing and noisy place.
In my opinion, the best way to get any traction online, is to put together a small Collaborative of people with the same goal and objective.
This is what we have done with the Synergy Collaborative and the Synergy Affiliate Program.
